Horrible moview guys. Please dnt waste your time and money on it.
indian style romance 7 years ago
Weddings have always been an integral part of bollywood movies and Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) Weds Manu (R Madhavan) is refreshing in bits. It will take you back to the typical Indian romance which is subtle and sweet. It is a story about this sweet honest, straightforward , not to forget good-looking NRI doctor Manoj Sharma who comes to India to finalize his partner chosen by his parents (jeee haaan arranged marriage :-O). So the bride hunting begins with papaji, mummyji and jigri dost Pappi. The first bride he sees is Miss Tanuja Trivedi a.k.a Tanu from Kanpur. Apna Manu sees Tanu in rather unusual circumstances, but cannot stop himself from falling in love with her at the very first sight and immediately agrees for marriage. Our Tanu is not a seedhi saadhi ladki! She smokes, uses the f-word at the drop of the hat, consumes alcohol, rides a bike she already has a boyfriend and and and she has his name tattooed on her chest!!! But kya karen?? Our Manu Bhaiyya has lost his heart to Tanu!! Bride hunting continues but Manu just cannot get over Tanu.
As fate and Bollywood movies have it Manu and Tanu meet again and what happens next is for the audience to see
The story isn%u2019t fresh however the first half has some nice moments while the second half is splintered. By the time movie ends Manu appears to be nothing more than a pushover (silently suffering romantic hero) and the reason why Tanu fools around with Manu is unknown. The script could have been more engaging with some twists and yes more wooing! The characters are interesting and the ambience whether of Kanpur or Kapurthala %u2013 so real that the audience gets the feeling of watching a real and genuine drama unfurl on the screen
Finally the audience gets to see Kangana in a new avtar which is not psychic (Thank god for no suicidal attempts) who has done a descent job. Her diction and dancing skills definitely need improvement though. Madhavan wedged in a thankless role seems charming in the first half but it almost gets irritating in the second half. Pappiji played by Deepak Dobriyal is terrific and stands out in each scene be it comic, emotional or dramatic. Swara Bhaskar as Payal does a fantastic job with her Bihari dialect. Her diction and dialogue delivery is superb. Ejaz Khan as Jassi has done a good job and managed to look dashing throughout the movie.
Music is nice and enjoyable. Saddi Galli is going to be a hit this wedding season. Apart from that there is Yun hi which a typical romantic Mohit Chauhan song is pleasant. Pony Verma%u2019s choreography of the Manu bhaiya number is adorable.
On the whole Tanu Weds Manu is not bad, it%u2019s enjoyable in bits.
